Lithium Batteries

Lithium Batteries

Caravan and Camping

Lithium batteries are better than your standard AGM or lead-acid battery.  Lithium Ion Phosphate, also known as LiFePO4 batteries have been extensively tested and well established as safe and are becoming the preferred replacement battery in applications where weight, space and overall life span are important.

Although Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries are more expensive when compared to your AGM or lead-acid batteries the high initial cost is compensated by the superior efficiency, reliability and service life.

Lithium batteries are lighter in weight (in some cases up to 40% lighter), more compact (some amp hour lithium batteries are available in both standard and slimline), can be recharged many times over, recharge to full capacity quicker,  are superior in performance and typically have a life span three times that of an AGM battery.

ARE LITHIUM BATTERIES WORTH THE EXPENSE?

If you’re planning on hooking up to mains power (mainly using powered sites) most of the time then it probably won’t be worth installing a lithium battery system.  But, if you plan on going off-grid, remote caravan/camping and require quick re-charges then your answer is YES, lithium is the way to go.  The benefits to utilising a lithium battery system are:

Size and weight – Lithium batteries store three to four times the electrical energy compared to AGM’s of similar size and weight. This is a major benefit when you have limited space and weight carrying capacity.

High charge current acceptance.

Built-in BMS (battery management system) in every Baintech battery.  The internal BMS actively ensures the lithium battery is protected and operating safely at all times.

Energy levels – Lithium batteries sustain higher voltage for much longer.  Unlike lead acid, lithium batteries hold their voltage over the cycle, dropping off only when the battery is approximately 90% discharged.

Constant voltage – There is no decline in performance of your devices (ie. lights, fridge, water pumps etc) during discharge.

Lithium batteries better withstand deep discharges to lower levels (minimum of 10% recommended) as opposed to lead acid (minimum of 40% recommended) which means you can run your appliances/devices for longer between recharges.

Built-in BMS (battery management system) in every Baintech battery.  The internal BMS actively ensures the lithium battery is protected and operating safely at all times.

Lithium batteries are designed to discharge to lower levels (minimum of 10% recommended) then AGM’s (minimum of 40% recommended) which means you can run your appliances/devices for longer between recharges.

The Baintech range of lithium batteries are Australian designed, engineered and assembled and all come with a 5 year warranty.
